Crow是上个世纪90年代以来最受欢迎的摇滚乐女歌手之一，她与众不同的音乐风格不仅基于美国传统摇滚乐，而且还在此基础上大胆融合其他风格，形成了自己特有的一种颇具另类色彩但是非常流行，非常受欢迎的音乐风格。而Sheryl Crow音乐中的旋律以及她在创作中的表现手法也都在美国流行和摇滚音乐界独树一帜。Sheryl Crow的音乐赢得了歌迷群体在十年来的稳定而不间断的支持，她不仅只是商业上的成功歌星，而且她还是格莱美奖的常客，同时她的唱片拥有着数以千万的销量，这也奠定了她在整个90年代女性流行和摇滚音乐中的统治性地位，而她在女性摇滚音乐中的这种地位即便是在进入了新世纪，Sheryl Crow的年龄渐渐增大之后依然没有丝毫的褪色。<BR><BR> Sheryl Crow生于1962年2月11日，她出生在美国密苏里州的南部与阿肯色州交界处的小城市Kennett，她的家庭是一个颇有音乐底蕴的家庭，父母都是乐队成员，母亲是名歌手并且还是一名钢琴演奏教师，而父亲则是一名吹奏乐器演奏者。良好的家庭氛围使Sheryl Crow在还没有上小学的时候就有机会接触各种乐器，她也因而从小学以后就开始了学习乐器演奏的训练。不仅有良好的家庭环境影响，Sheryl Crow本身与生俱来的音乐才华也在很早就有所展现，她在只有13岁的时候就创作了自己的第一首单曲。长大之后，Sheryl Crow进入了密苏立大学学习音乐，并且当地的一支小乐队担任键盘手。在大学毕业之后，Sheryl Crow并没有一帆风顺的进入音乐界，而是在密苏里东部重镇圣路易斯成为了一名普通的音乐教师，不过，这也成为了她富有传奇色彩的音乐生涯的起点。Sheryl Crow白天作为音乐教师，并且在当地一支小乐队作歌手，晚上则在当地从事一些音乐录制工作。直到Sheryl Crow24岁的时候，她终于打起背包前往洛杉矶专心发展自己的音乐事业。<BR><BR> 在洛杉矶的生活也并不是非常顺利，Sheryl Crow只能在最初级的录音地方打短工，但是在不久之后她取得了事业上的突破，她通过试音而成为了当时正值事业颠峰的流行天王迈克尔·杰克逊(Michael Jackson)的《Bad》世界巡回演唱会的后备歌手，在这里她不仅有机会在舞台暖场的时候一展歌喉，更重要的是她的外型引起了不小的关注，某些小报的八卦消息认为她是迈克尔·杰克逊的秘密情人。长达两年的巡回演唱会结束之后，Sheryl Crow再次无所适从，继续为寻找肯支持她发展的唱片公司而努力，虽然找到了不少有意向签约的公司，但是那些公司竟然都希望把她包装成为一名舞曲风格的歌手，这并不是Sheryl Crow所擅长的也不是她所希望的音乐路线，她仍然希望能够找到支持她个人风格的公司，但是最终在大半年的时间里一无所获，最终她再次成为了大牌歌星的候补和暖场歌手，这次她曾经先后为Bob Dylan，George Harrison，Sting，Stevie Wonder，Joe Cocker，Sinead O`Connor，Rod Stewart和单飞的老鹰乐队(Eagles)主唱Don Henley等人工作。通过与这些大牌歌手的合作使Sheryl Crow积累了许多非常宝贵的经验，并且在这期间她的创作能力得到了进一步的提高。<BR><BR> 通过了长时间的努力工作之后，Sheryl Crow最终结识了音乐制作人Hugh Padgham，并且最终获得了和A&M唱片公司签约的机会，并且迅速开始了首张专辑的录制工作。但是Hugh Padgham依然是希望做成一张流行乐专辑，而Sheryl Crow则坚决不同意，最后新专辑的录制计划也就搁浅了。但是在此前经过了长达一年半的失意之后，Sheryl Crow非常珍惜这次来之不易的发行唱片的机会，年近30的她如果失去了这次机会的话很可能就再也没有发行专辑的机会了，因此此时的Sheryl Crow非常的矛盾，但是这时她的身为音效工程师的男朋友Kevin Gilbert帮助她度过了难关，他们组织了一些人组成稳定的音乐团体，就是利用这些默默无闻的人，Sheryl Crow的音乐才华才得到了真正的发挥，而她们在一起坐出来的音乐也才是令Sheryl Crow所满意的，这个音乐团体中的Bill Bottrell成为了她的制作人，而Sheryl Crow也终于没有让这个机会从手边溜走，1993年，这张专辑被定名为《Tuesday Night Music Crow制作人的Bill Bottrell也因为发生矛盾而各奔东西，Sheryl Crow独自扛起了制作专辑的重任。随后，Mitchell Froom和Tchad Blake成为了Sheryl Crow的主要音乐制作班子成员，而这两人所带来的一些摇滚音乐的经验也对于Sheryl Crow的音乐发展有非常大的贡献。1996年发行的第二张专辑《Sheryl Crow》是一张Sheryl Crow非常个人化的专辑，从音乐的创作到演唱，经历了颇多人生变化的Sheryl Crow对于音乐的理解和表现进一步的增强，这张专辑征服了几乎所有听众，而此时Sheryl Crow的第二批合作伙伴也相对的固定下来，配合也越来越成熟了。这张专辑中的近半数单曲成为了优秀的打榜单曲，而专辑销量也轻松的突破了300万张，这是非常来之不易的，原因是由于Sheryl Crow在歌词中带有点名抵制美国零售业的霸主沃尔玛公司(WalMart)廉价售货店的内容，而沃尔玛公司在所有的连锁店和相关销售商全部封杀了这张专辑。随后的1997年，Sheryl Crow不仅开始自己的演唱会，还参加了著名的滚石乐队(the Rolling Stones)的Bridges to Babylon巡回演唱会，又响应了另一位歌星Sarah
